The collective was formed in the fall of 2009. Folk dance lovers gathered with joy to preserve and cherish the traditions of Lithuanian folk dance, to communicate, to share good mood in the collective and with the audience. Since then, “Šoktinis” has become a large dance family united by folk dance, which not only works together in the rehearsal hall, but also entertains, travels, has its own holidays and traditions.
“Šoktinis” creates original programs, in which both the most beautiful traditional Lithuanian stage dances, new dance choreography, and non-traditional folk dance interpretations delight audiences in Lithuania and around the world. The collective participates in international festivals, cooperates with foreign Lithuanian communities and collectives, and carries out various projects to popularize folk dance.
